Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Protn. The two parts most worth reading are the subscription terms and the fact that Protn is not medical advice.

$9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. Billing starts when the trial ends unless you cancel. It renews until you cancel it.
Not medical advice
Protn is general nutrition guidance. It is not a dietitian and not a doctor. If you have a medical condition, speak to a professional first.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating a Protn account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use Protn. If you are using Protn on behalf of someone else, you need their authority to accept these terms for them.
You must be at least 16 years old to have a Protn account.
2. What Protn is
Protn is a fixed-menu meal planning app. You give it your daily macro targets and a list of foods you are happy to eat repeatedly. It builds a week of meals from those foods that aims to hit those targets, and then you check the meals off each day.
Protn is deliberately not a food logger, a calorie counter, or a nutrition database you can search. It will not tell you what is in a restaurant meal. It decides your menu once so that the daily decision goes away.
3. Protn is not medical advice
This section matters more than the rest, so it is said plainly and it is the same thing the app itself says.
- Protn gives general nutrition guidance, not medical advice.
- Protn is not a substitute for a dietitian, a doctor, or any other qualified health professional.
- If you have a medical condition, you should consult a professional before changing your diet. That includes, without limiting it: diabetes, kidney or liver disease, heart conditions, high blood pressure, coeliac disease, a food allergy, an eating disorder or a history of one, and any condition that affects how you absorb or process food.
- The same applies if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, or taking medication that interacts with food.
The macro targets Protn suggests come from a standard metabolic formula applied to the height, weight, age, sex and activity level you entered. A formula is an estimate about a population, not a measurement of you. Nutrition values come from a food database and are approximations. Portions are rounded to amounts you can actually weigh or count. None of this is calibrated to your body, your bloodwork or your medical history, and none of it is reviewed by a clinician.
Do not use Protn to treat, diagnose or manage a medical condition, and do not delay or disregard professional advice because of something Protn showed you. If you think you are having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service.
4. Your account
- You need a valid email address, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
- One account per person. Do not share an account or sell access to one.
- The information you enter about yourself should be accurate, because the plan is built from it.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. See the Privacy Policy for what that removes.
5. Subscription, trial and billing
These are the terms as the subscription is actually configured:
| Term | Detail |
|---|---|
| Free trial | 14 days, on either plan. You are not charged anything during it. |
| Monthly | $9.99 per month (USD). |
| Yearly | $79.99 per year (USD) — $6.67 a month, 33% less than paying monthly. |
| When billing starts | When the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. |
| Renewal | Auto-renews at the end of each period, and keeps renewing until you cancel. |
| Cancelling | Any time, through the App Store. |
| Payment | Charged to your Apple ID. Protn never sees your card details. |
How the trial runs, in order:
-
Day 1
Everything unlocks. You are not charged anything.
-
Day 11
The app reminds you, with 3 days still left to cancel.
-
Day 14
Your subscription starts, unless you cancelled before this.
Some specifics worth stating:
- Renewal is automatic. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours of the end of the current period at the price for your plan.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before a period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. That is Apple’s window, not ours.
- Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. If you cancel before day 14, you are never charged.
- You cannot have a second free trial. Apple allows one introductory offer per subscription group, so the 14 days are available once per Apple ID.
- Prices are in US dollars and shown in your local currency in the app, set per storefront. Local prices and taxes are set by Apple and may differ from a direct conversion. The price you see in the app before you confirm is the price you pay.
- If we change a price, Apple will tell you and ask you to agree before it applies to your renewal. You can cancel instead.
- Managing the subscription is done in your Apple ID settings, or through Manage subscription in Protn’s own settings, which opens the same controls.
6. Cancelling
Cancel through the App Store. Protn cannot cancel it for you, because Apple holds the subscription.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Protn, then Cancel Subscription.
Or, in Protn: Settings → Manage subscription, which opens the same place. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, your menu stays readable and the daily features stop.
7. Refunds
Purchases go through Apple, so Apple handles refunds under its own policy — we cannot issue one directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, or through Settings → Manage subscription in Protn, which includes a refund request flow. If you were charged after cancelling, or something went wrong on our side, email hello@protnapp.com and we will support your request with Apple.
Nothing here limits a statutory right to cancel or be refunded that you have where you live.
8. What is free
- Your first plan is free to anyone who has never built one. No trial, no card, no subscription.
- Reading your menu is always free. If your subscription lapses, nothing is deleted and nothing is hidden — you can still read every meal in the plan you built.
- A subscription covers the daily part: ticking meals and water off, the macro dashboard, and rebuilding your plan whenever you want.
- Protn records the edits you make to a plan, and a change you make repeatedly can become a stored preference that future menus take into account. Every stored preference is listed in Settings with where it came from, and you can delete any of them.
We may change what sits inside the subscription. If something you are paying for moves out of it, we will tell you before it happens.
9. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Resell, redistribute or sublicense Protn or access to it.
- Reverse-engineer the app, or try to extract the prompts or models behind plan generation.
- Use automated means to build plans at volume, or otherwise try to run up our costs. Plan generation calls a paid AI service and is rate-limited per account.
- Attempt to bypass the subscription check, interfere with the service, or access another person’s data.
- Use Protn to give nutrition advice to other people as though it were professional advice.
We may suspend or close an account that does any of this.
10. AI-generated plans
Plans are generated by an AI model, with checks around it. The app verifies that a plan uses only your foods, has the right shape, and lands inside a tolerance of your macro targets — and it refuses to save one that does not. That is a meaningful check, and it is still not a guarantee of nutritional correctness for you specifically.
- Generation takes around 70 seconds. It is working, not stuck.
- It can fail. If a plan cannot be built within tolerance from the foods you chose, Protn tells you why rather than saving something wrong.
- You are responsible for what you eat. Check the plan against your own allergies, intolerances and medical needs before you follow it. Protn filters on the restrictions you enter, and it cannot know about one you did not tell it.
11. Ownership
Protn, its name, its design and its software are ours. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app while your account is in good standing.
Your data is yours. Your targets, your food list, the plans built for you and your check-off history belong to you. We hold them to run the app, as described in the Privacy Policy, and you can delete them whenever you like.
12. Availability and changes
Protn depends on services we do not run — Apple, Supabase, Anthropic, RevenueCat. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue the app, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
If these terms change materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Protn afterwards means you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can cancel and delete your account.
13. Disclaimers and liability
Protn is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any plan it builds will produce a particular result for your body.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any health outcome arising from following a plan that Protn built. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all of your statutory rights, and some of the limits above may not apply to you.
14. Ending this agreement
You can end it at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. We can suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the app. If we close your account without cause while you have paid for a period, we will refund the unused part of it.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
16. Contact
Email hello@protnapp.com with any question about these terms, your subscription or a charge. We read every message and usually reply within a day.
Apple Inc. is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to support Protn. See also the standard Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, which govern your purchase.
